all that glows: collagen gummies

glow-boosting gummiesFirst and foremost, foods should nourish – but what I don’t get is there are people that still believe that healthy foods can’t taste delicious or even mimic some of our favorite chemical-laden junk foods. These glow and immunity-boosting collagen gummies are a perfect example. They are loaded with health benefits that support hair, skin and nails, reduce inflammation and supply a daily dose of probiotics while tasting like a perfect cross between a gummy candy and jello snack – without all the sugar!

immunity-boosting gummies

Collagen has achieved superfood status, supporting far more than just hair, skin, nails, joints and bones, but also helping to detoxify the liver, reduce inflammation and even repair digestion and leaky gut. Coconut kefir supplies the probiotics while adding a tangy flavor, while hibiscus and black cherry provide antioxidants, vitamin C and anti-inflammatory properties. Nettles support immunity as well as skin and hair, while a touch of honey additionally provides immunity-boosting properties as well. This superhero team of ingredients combines in a perfect guilt-free and equally beneficial treat.

collagen gummie recipe

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups brewed hibiscus or nettle leaf tea (can substitute other types of herbal teas)
3/4 cup coconut kefir or coconut water
1/4 cup black cherry concentrated juice
1/4 cup raw honey
6 Tbsp Bulletproof CollaGelatin*
1 Tbsp lemon juice

* It’s fine to use a brand other than BulletProof, just be sure it is a blend of both collagen and gelatin or else it will not set properly. You may try using 4 Tbsp of gelatin and 2 Tbsp collagen.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Brew tea. I simply added a tea bag of hibiscus and nettle tea to 2 cups of hot water and allowed to steep for approximately 15 minutes.

Add hot tea to a saucepan on low and add CollaGelatin. Stir until completely dissolved. Cool until warm (but not hot) before stirring in raw honey, kefir and lemon juice. The reason for the lower temperature is you don’t want to heat raw honey and you also don’t want to kill the active cultures in the kefir.

Pour into silicone candy molds of choice. Refrigerate for a few hours and enjoy.
